Sunday, January 15, 2006 Faizal's Birthday (another belated entry...) Fai's Birthday is on Dec 29th.. which also happens to be the day that the six of us Penn Pals left singapore for student exchange in 2004. And after a 365 days of crazy friendship.. we're proudly celebrating!! If there're a few things we all have in common, its travel, food and photography. (If there're a few things we DON'T have in common, it's height, grades and.. fingerprints??) Look what those naughty boys were up to when we girls were making them food! They tried to blow up my microwave. With us still in the kitchen. So i tried to settle them down by taking out the ps2. Which worked. Cuz i only got to play like.. after the boys each played twice or something. Heres Fai and me racing. neither of us have licenses yet either, so it was fair. He was pretty good. I was like, playing bumper cars or something. The culinary artist award goes to Sharon: she rolled asparagus in lean bacon, had cajun shrimps tucked neatly onto every (but one) scoop of mashed potatoes, and contributed homemade quiche! (He only eats, like, 10 kinds of food.) Though there is something 'special' abt that pasta.. so far only norman and my maid knows/saw... but hey, nobody got tummyache afterwards so i guess it was alright. Next time you spill a whole bag of uncooked penne on the kitchen floor, its ok not to wash it.. CUZ when you cook it, the germs get killed anyway riight?? *heh*. Just because they thought we couldn't see from a self-timed shot. Strawbewies, bananers, marshymellows, whine with cheez+crackerz.. *mmm* A very fun aphrodizzyiac dessert :) Excuse me for spelling everything wrong in the previous caption. Must've been high just thinking back on all the yummy stuff. But still, no excuse, i know.
FINALLY - Pictures from Hongkong!! Yes, these extremely overdue photos.. So for about a week in mid-december 2005, Hannah and i were in hongkie land (my biological hometown, of sorts) but infact (L-R:) hannah's mommy, my auntie, my mommy, me and hannah Christmas shopping at Causeway Bay's Times Square
Friday, January 06, 2006 Hehe.. somehow its always considered kind of a cheat when people do this.. like you'd think the blogger was lazy or trying to overrating his/her own life by representing it in a song.. but sometimes you just listen to a song and you want everyone else to know the words too! And thats why we post LYRICS, for me at least.Oh come on! I havent done this in a while already *grin* and the song rocks! (well not literally, but really, its more like grunge, haha) I know we're just like old friends We just can't pretend That lovers make amends We are reasons so unreal We can't help but feel that something has been lost But please you know you're just like me Next time I promise we'll be Perfect Perfect Perfect strangers down the line Lovers out of time Memories unwind So far I still know who you are But now I wonder who I was... Angel, you know it's not the end We'll always be good friends The letters have been sent on So please, you always were so free You'll see, I promise we'll be Perfect Perfect strangers when we meet Strangers on the street Lovers while we sleep Perfect You know this has to be We always were so free We promised that we'd be Perfect Perfect Perfect [MUSICiLIKE: Perfect - Smashing Pumpkins] You know how msn.com pops up whenever you log into msn? And on the top right hand corner theres kind of a 'did you know' trivia question? Well i was curious today so i clicked it: What is Epiphany? Answer: Epiphany: defined: Epiphany is celebrated on January 6 each year. The Eastern Church recognizes Epiphany as the anniversary of the baptism of Christ. In the Western churches, Epiphany commemorates principally the revelation to the Gentiles of Jesus Christ as the Savior, as portrayed by the coming of the Three Wise Men. In both the Eastern and Western churches the feast secondarily commemorates the marriage at Cana, at which Christ performed his first miracle. The official Christmas season, popularly known as either Christmastide or the Twelve Days of Christmas, extends from the anniversary of Christ’s birth on December 25 to the feast of Epiphany on January 6. Epiphany is derived from the Greek word epiphaneia, which means “appearance.” Now we know :)
Tuesday, January 03, 2006 NEW YEAR'S EVE - started with lunch at Brewerkz with Shane. not a very glam photo of either of us, but make do, theres only one Yummy yummy food! And belated christmas presents! Im a happy girl (: I think these avi's should belong to ME. Hee. Down down goes the last sun of year - Watched the fireworks at One Fullerton with Sharon, Dawn and some other people i just met that night.. it doesn't matter cuz u cant really see them in this photo anyway ;P New year, new friends :)
Actually, prior to successfully finding Sharon and gang.. i was coming from another house party and got lost when i reached the Fullerton area.. Sharon's phone was dying and she told me to meet her at Onyx.. which she said was the old Centro.. so i went and after crawling though the whole One Fullerton a few times ( it wasnt easy with all those people) i still couldnt find Onyx! So i asked this guy at the door to the place 'formerly known as Centro' where Onyx was and he said it closed down like half a year ago.. but if i wanted to get in (to the club which was now called ONE) I'd either have to be on the guest list or pay the $30 cover charge which included 2 drinks. Having no way to contact sharon by phone and pretty much stranded alone at that point (looking genuinely clueless too i bet), i tried something new: I told the guy (who looked interestingly half chinese - half white) that i was an exchange student and that i've never even been to this place and that all i wanted to do was find my friend, whom i wasnt even sure was in the club. I probably managed a pout when i asked if there was anyway i could just go in just to see, cuz before i knew it, he told the bouncer to put me on his guestlist and i got an invisible $30 on my left hand. But it didnt stop there.. he took me table by table, floor by floor looking for my friends.. even offering me a drink! But i felt kinda bad cuz all the while he was chatting me up and i felt like i had to make up convincing answers to back my exchange student status while not straying too far away from the truth. And i really dont like lying.. though i think im pretty alright at it. heh. In the end Dawn called and said they were actually at Lash. So i didnt get to take advantage of my free entry into ONE. AnYwAY... HAPPY 2006!!!
