haha i was gonna ask if u were free to eat lunch or hang tmr but i got a bit sian suddenly cos im trying to finish up an essay. one day we might just tempt lihong out of her study-shell

yes that wierdo lihong.. shes looking nerdier haha.. anyways.. im booked tmr.. gonna play tennis with my og hehe

yeah i see her ard... i hang ard law fac rmb? hehe

ahhh. i was jus bitching abt people from art fac to her and i realised that u come from ALL the parts of life i don't stand for. Like, i can't stand the americans, or hongkies, or AC girls or arts student. (ahhh lucky u aren't from MGS either)
haha no offense, but its odd how things turnout eh

whadaya got against hongkies?!

when i say i can't stand, i mean generally. like, i realy really don't see why any credit should be given to law students cos they are mindless drones but i have so much law pals
hongkies are rude. and they push. alot.

those are prc's! and yeah i cant stand my law buddies being so proud of their ugly textbooks that they purposely hold it in their hands.. haha but then again.. percentage wise.. i have more friends in law than in arts.. haha

hahahah im high. too much ovaltine. but really.

Today's lecture in Social Variation in English was on "Ethnicity and Multilingualism". The following article was looked at and, for the same reasons that Nat enjoyed her lecture on Islamic Law, I found it really interesting:

"Singlish is lame"

Suzanne Walker, 34, who has been in the radio industry for 11 years, has been called "irritating" and "pretentious" by listeners.

Her radio voice is a rojak of British accent mixed with hints of an American twang and a Singaporean accent. She hosts The Walkerthon on WRKZ 91.3FM from Mondays to Fridays, and The Most Music With Suzanne Walker on Saturdays.

Walker, born to a Chinese mother and English father, spent her school holidays in Britain and went to college in Vancouver. Here's what she says in her defense:

"I picked up Singlish early on in my career. Frankly, I hate it and I think it's lame.

"The stresses are all on the wrong words in a sentence, and it's grammatically off.

"If I wasn't on radio, I'd be speaking properly. But I speak Singlish so listeners relate better to me.

"People who have such an issue with the accent thing show a small-town mentality that points to insecurities of how they themselves sound.

"Just because I don't sound like you doesn't mean that I'm showing off. It just means I speak differently.

"I've compromised a lot, so people should just drop it and lay off."

I've never really singled you out, but I'm a fan of yours now, Suzanne Walker! I'm too lazy to make my own defence on the issue but if I did, it would probably aim to sound like yours.

Today was a good day i guess..
..got a ride to school frm a friend (another OC lover i might add)
..lessons ended at 12
..met Shane for lunch
..fell asleep in the library
..played squash/bridge with my OG !
..had dinner at GenkiSushi with Shane, Yingshuang, Larry, Clemmie, and Mindy
..and had the bill on the house (long story)
..Shane sent me home *hug*
..cleaned out my old Sociology notes and found a song i wrote last year:

Crawling in the dark...


Just came back from the Hoobastank concert (courtesy of free tix frm Nat, thanks babe!).. well the lead singer had a hot tamale body and the guitarist looks like mark mcgrath.. but the security and authorities were SUCH nasty asses..


Standing with the $59 crowd, we were like placed like miles away from the stage and could barely see the widescreen.. not that there were too many $79 ticket people upfront.. but that there was this motherf*ckin gap of sand the size of, like, the Pacific Ocean btw them and the barricade that guarded us..


Personally, I felt like a refugee.. people pushin and shovin to get a glimpse of the screen.. (not even the flesh) Though Nat, Lynn, Eugene and me were already like second row from the barricade (Priya and Yiting were blessed with longer legs so stayed in the back), we were more pissed off with having to strain our necks and squint our eyes than really enjoying the concert.

Even Doug Robb (lead singer) was like
"I feel bad for u guys back there.. just do whatever to have fun alright? ..the gate doesnt look very tall to jump over.. heck and there're so much more of you guys than there are of the security guys!"


Already the peeved people were already chanting "Open the gate!" after like every song.. and eventually, one fella did jump over and was grabbed by 3 security dudes as if he was a criminal.. No wonder stars always say doing gigs/concerts in Singapore are a joke.. it was just totally illogical that they left SUCH a gap (the size of an olympic swimming pool) btw us and the people $20 richer.. sheesh. But towards the end.. all hell broke loose and everyone jumped the fence and one of the barricades gave way and people just flooded out.. too bad it was already the last song.. Crawling in the Dark :(




On another note.. back at Harbourfront Centre after the concert, Nat and I decided to visit the little girls' room on the 3rd floor.. and while the two of us were peeing, at precisely 2300 the lights went out, so -- "Omigod, Miiil/Naaat!"


So we quickly got out but much to our horror, the whole of HFC was dark and empty too. For a moment we thought we were locked in.. So we ventured the dark aisles (half looking for the escalators and half looking for DBS bank) and suddenly our hearts jumped to the unexpected sound of some mechanical music.. SO, we were scared and we ran down to Cheers and Macs where it was still lighted and populated.


But i was really desperate to find the DBS bank (explain why later) so we went back upstairs to the pitch dark aisles.. Nat was already kinda jittery by the toilet incident so when we walked along and suddently saw the headlights of a money-operated child car flash at us, she got all clingy and "Miiiiiil..." and stuff..


And i was like:
"Come on, its not like the car's gonna start TALKING.. hahaa--"


And before i even finished my sentence the freakin car started TALKING!!!


That freakin BARNEY DINOSAUR in the car was like:
"Howdy boys and girl! Let's have some fun! What say you?"


We screamed the shit outta our systems and started running the other way (we werent even this hysterical at the concert) . It was SO Chuckie from Child's Play!!! (Nat refused to let me photograph the car to show u all.. incase anything happens when she uploads the photo)


(I have this phobia RIGHT NOW that some evil person planted a virus in my com that will make the screen suddenly blackout and show a big wagging barney head that says "Hello boys and girls..." AHHH!!!!)

But WHY did i have to find the DBS bank so desperately??
(I know, I know... long post.. but i seldom do this k??)
I needed to deposit a $9000 check to my account..

Why? because i needed a statement frm the bank to prove that i have such an amt by thurs..

Prove to who? the Dean's Office..

Whatever for? SEP..

S-E-P..? yes! i got selected for Student Exchange Program for next sem!

Sometimes i wonder.. where do all my hits come from? I mean i know SOME people come regularly.. but 100+ hits a day? do i know so many people? and if they're blog hoppers from faraway, how far away?

Anyways, went to Wala's last night with Nat and caught Shane's band.. they're so awesome! I feel like a groupie *hehe* And they played Jason Wade's "You Belong to Me" for me!!! (If you read previous entries, you'll know I love the song..) I have to say, they sound 'exactly like the original if not better' (and thats SO not in the sense of last nights S'pore Idol, heh) ..so if you missed them last night, just download the song from Ares/Kazaa/whatever.. its the same, just without Shane's dreamy eyes gazing down on you *wink* (though lynn might be eyeing that other guy.. hehe)

A horrible first day of school... how very cliche:


1. I left the house 20mins late cuz i couldnt find my eyelash curler
(cuz SHANE hid it in some obscure CUP yesterday *bleah*)


2. Since I dont stay in hall anymore, I took public transport.. and for the first time, decided to try the Clementi mrt route.. and I waited for 96 at the wrong bus stop instead of the bus terminal.. (NUS people would know how stupid that is) i didnt even know the terminal was there till the uncle wouldnt let me on the bus.. and was totally amazed by the gigantic queue of NUS people that could fit onto one bus.. good thing i found Cat in the queue and she 'took care' of me until i reached familiar territory again..


3. Obviously late for my first lecture of the year.


4. But I saw Susie on the way *hug*


5.Was lugging ard my laptop and shanes 'forgotten' groceries throughout this journey..


6. Took a bathroom break and realized that tdy is 'Day One'.. in the female sense.. What a fabulous surprise.


7. But Shane was right there in the canteen waiting for me.. and i had my fave unagi don :) with 'tauhua' afterwards.. (grumpy bleeding girls are hungry ok?)


8. Couldn't connect my laptop to the school internet network.


9. Froze in the law library. no jacket.


10. Broke off a knob on my laptop. (my FIRST day using it) and i dont even know how it happened.


11.Attended statistics lecture.. didnt know anyone.. fell asleep (he said we could wad)


12. Cramps TOTALLY started acting up and i spent like half an hour in the toilet during break. *bleah*


13. Dragged myself outta class.. visited Martin and Yinqi in KR.. i miss KR.. *sniff* ...though it smelled kinda funny tdy *sniff snifffffff* hmm.



oh and on top of all that my bros at home, running a helluva high temperature and i dunno what else to do that will keep his brains from exploding aside from bringing him to the docs (my parents are outta town u see)


*WHEW* I'm gonna shower and sleep now.. can't wait to watch the gig at Wala's tmr night :) Yes everyone, im GOING this time. ;)

Was surfing uberture.com and found that my friend, Yongxiang, is their coverhunk for July! haha.. We all knew he was a pretty boy with floppy hair and sec sch shorts back in the first 3 months of PJC.. but boy has he changed.. haha.. If you guys are reading this (cat, hengyung, jiada, zhiguan, yvonne, qiuhui, jessica, chunlin, yongxiang) i think u'd have to agree that our times of skipping class and hangin out at science centre macs and (fortunately/unfortunately) getting caught were indisputablely the most fun and embaressing times ever! All the best to you guys in whatever you do ;)

If you're my aquaintance and 'heard' frm somewhere that I 'look' Chinese but 'fake' an accent or something, I will explain now (though it's never once and for all): I'm an American born Chinese, my parents are Hongkongers. I was born in Chicago, raised in Hongkong till I was 5, moved to Boca Raton, Florida and stayed till I was 11, moved to Trophy Club, Texas and stayed till i was 13, moved to Singapore and have stayed there since. Throughout my preschool-univeristy life i have attended 13 schools so far. Was it tough? did it make me bitter? I dont think so, ask any of my friends.. or try and find someone who hates me.. *wink*
