*trying to creep back in without people noticing that i've been gone for a year*

Hi!

Ok so i've been gone for a while.. it's been pretty eventful but lets just see what i've been up to recently:

I just came back from hongkong, again. This time it was kind of a mini grad-trip with Boo, euwie, nev and von.. Shopped alot, ate alot, - just like how hk was meant to be done ;)

Oh and I graduated :) Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology with Honours.. in case you were wondering..

And of course, I turned twenty-three!

And that was my last birthday in glasses cuz i just got LASIK yesterday!!!

Yup blogging to you with brand new eyes right now.. and im off to pack my bag for my first day of work tomorrow! Hopefully i'll still have time to update this thing once in a while.

Till then!

Sorrrrry.... HEE.

So what's a few weeks late of entries eh? hehe.. Well i DO have an excuse actually.. a perfectly valid one as well.. For those familiar with my blog, what do i always have? Uh- huh.. PICTURES!!! And guess what? I cant blog cuz i have no snapshots of recent events (eg. hongkong trip, meeting friends, rockclimbing, momo the golden retriever, my little brush with the law.. etc) And guess why?? Cuz someone stole my lousy camera!!! *pffffft* What a MORON. Little did she know that that thing has the attention span of an ADD child (ie. it cant focus, on anything). In other words, a very crappy camera that ONLY works with buckets of sunshine.. ( sounds like a fair-weather friend, you say? yeah, you could say that..)

ANYHOO...its gone.. and the most infuriating part is that it was picked RIGHT OUT OF MY OWN ZIPPED HANDBAG! It was like this.. i was in china for a few days after being in hongkong for 2 weeks (read: loads of pictures taken) and so i was in Shenzhen and i was just thinking to myself.. "hey.. havent taken any pics of china yet.. sure would be nice to add it to the rest of the travel pics.. and its SO SUNNY today!" So, trying to be more appreciative of the 'cultural aspect of travelling' and convince myself that i've done enought shopping, i walk out of the department store and whip out my pretty-yet-mentally-retarded machine.. and i have to say i had a nice time taking pics of people while people-watching... one my fave pics: this old sunburnt begger squatting on a sidewalk bench. He was picking his nose.. and flicking the boogers on the seat.. but the amusing part was that the bench boasted this huge civics message: "Lets work together and play your part to keep our city clean!" I guess the begger just decided to do something 'special' for HIS part...

So after a few shots of locals on the crowded street.. i put my camera back in my handbag, zipped it up, and went back inside the store to look for my mom.. who was happily rummaging throught the piles of clearance items.. So i joined in lah. And of course it was really crowded.. with really pushy women.. really pushy _* _* _ women too.. (_*_*_ starts with a P and ends with a C)

AHHHH!!! Long story short: after shopping i bought a dress and lost my camera. The bitch just unzipped my bag and took out my camera (which was rather near the zip) and i didnt even know. You've gotta give it to them, them _*_*_ 's have some TALENT. ..and i wont say in what.

OK Change topic: What did i do in hongkong...

Eat wonton noodles..

Visited HK Science and Tech University...

Had a bite of their 'highly-recommended' egg-mayo croissant..

.. and took a ride on the mTr with my host James!

NOW i swear this is gonna look like its ALL i ever did in hongkong.. and thats why i hesitated to put these photos up.. but they're all the pics i have! You can tell that it was just ONE day right?? Right??!

I'll talk abt how i got detained by the customs police another time.. and how im working as a Citibank customer service officer.. right now im sleepy.. and im still supposed to nap a bit before the Portugal vs France game.. i've one hour left..

Chris Daughtry and Suspicious Minds..
MY all time favorite Elvis song.. I melted watching that performance man.. It was beautiful, Chris, you had me.
And i swear i almost cried when they announced your name on thursday night.
I havent blogged in ages have i? Exams and all... crappy excuses, i know ;)
Alright let's find some proof of me studying for them this semester:

Oops.. ok maybe this was during break.. ;)

Here's hannah and me giggling on the library floor *kehehe*

Here's ben studying pretty hard..

Here's hannah studying her HARDEST..

I can do a pretty good job too.. i dont know what the heck hanwei and guoyang are grinning over though; personally, im pretty sad that break is over.

Something is seriously wrong when you start logging into blogger with your school email address..

ANYWAY

Someone has complained that I didn't update for the weekend. So fine.. i will inform you nosey ones of how my weekend went:

Friday night was spent in the bizad libary by myself because stupid jimmy seow didnt come back to study after dinner like he said he would ;P My dinner was spent with hanwei and the western food stall in bizad. yumyum. but everyones so busy and stressed, hardly anyone remembers its friday. I left when they started playing the bad 'get outta here' music, but before i was done packing i looked back and realised i was the only one left on the floor! then the lights went out and.. eeeek!! i walked really fast.

Saturday was spent analyzing my psycholinguistic lab experiment results.. yes yes were you a lucky participant of mine?? Well i sincerely thank you guys for your time.. your data gave us fabulous results! Just to show my sincerity, im gonna try to list all who came down at my request in order, so Ben, Jon, Eugene, Shane, Hanwei, Elibirdbird, Shuyi, David, Wan-tsin, the SWAPS people she brought, Aaron, Alex, Hannah and Norman.. I owe you one! (great now i gotta worry abt who i might've forgotten) i know some of you complained of being braindead afterwards.. but you signed the ethnics release form ;) oh crap.. i just realised that at least 3 of you arent 21 yet!!! I was supposed to make your parents sign as well! oops. heh. Anyways, for y'all's benefit, its statisically proven that vowels are responded to alot faster than consonants. what that means yet, im not sure.

Sunday was spent at school with ben. Well half of sunday anyway. The first half of sunday constituted me not wanting to wake up till 11:30am and lunch at fongseng till 3pm before we really headed off to bizad to do our work.. and i was very productive actually :) We agreed that people who like nuts (like ben) dont understand the point of Crispy M&M's. But I for one hate nuts, so i totally understand Crispy M&M's. By 7pm we were off again to dinner at Sakae, hahaha.. And i have found what makes a Happy Mil.. no its not a toy, its endless salmon sashimi.

Later on in the night i engaged myself in a discussion of the homosexuality issue. It boiled down to something rather philosophical really: does 'not wrong' equate to 'right' and does 'harmless' equate to 'acceptable'? Which was all totally irrelevant to what i was SUPPOSED to be doing - my 10 page sociology paper on the Impacts of Studying Abroad. That (writing my soci essay) lasted until abt 6something in the morning and then i went to sleep.

Woke up this monday morning to finish the damn thing, and while i've always experienced a strain on my right shoulder blade when working on the computer.. i tilted my head a bit to stretch and "CRUNCH" something f*ckin' crunched in my neck! And my neck locked and hurts like f*ck. In fact im blogging with a neck brace on now. Very uncomfortable. I couldnt even go to school to personally submit my paper. No laughing if you see me in school looking like a freak tmr.

Oh i have to slip this in somewhere.. Jade Seah should have won last nights crazy Miss Singapore Universe pageant. I almost thought they read the results in the wrong order. She was the only pretty, smart and presentable one. the rest of them are loony or at least managed to portray themselves that way, which is all that really matters in competitions like these. I used to think maybe i was biased towards her cuz she's like tarnima's friend or something.. but after catching a bit of the show (ok i only watched frm the Q&A onwards) i quickly decided that it's REALLY not an irrational bias.

It's been a busy week for alota people, hasn't it?

Well in the midst of projects, tests and assignments.. performances still need to be appreciated and friends still need to be supported :)

Watched my little brother perform at the ACS barker concert on saturday night and the NUS jazz band on sunday night.. there's something itchy about being in the audiences' seat ;)

Anyways.. more on the jazz concert last night, where hannah, shane and jon were performing:

At the last minute before i went out the door my mom announces that my dad has taken the car so i'll have to take a cab (that sentence sounded like i could drive, didnt it? haha) And my date for the evening tells me that hes gonna wear jeans so i decided that i couldn't wear the dress that i had initially planned to the day before (girls.. *sigh*) for fear that i might be overdressed and thus had to settle on an alternative as i stood in front of my closet at 7:40pm (the concert started at 8pm).

So i got dressed and clumsily ran downstairs in my heels for the slightest chance that that might effectively shave off some competition at the cab queue. And to my pleasant surprise, i was the only one running, and the only thing at the stand was one lonely cab, just for me i suppose. So i hopped on, and muttered in between pockets of panting: "NUS please.. as fast as you can"

And then the conversation started:

"Sure sure! you just sit and be pretty and uncle will get you there, no problem!"
"Ok thanks!" (thinking that i should be relieved)
"So where you come from? I know you not local sinGAHbor ger!"
"Um.....hongkong" (taking a while to decided which nationality was safe to use)

and then he went on and on asking abt what languages i usually speak.. whether i liked singapore.. how hongkong girls knew how to dress up and kept putting down local girls.. which made me feel rather uncomfortable.. like did he expect me to agree with him or argue otherwise? So i just spoke my mind and said that local girls are skinnier so thats something i envy.. and then he goes on abt how they spend too much on slimming pills and centers ending up too ridiculously skinny to even have babies and end up going to gynaecologists, ending up spending more money..

and all the while.. im looking out the window as everyone passes us by. the cars, the p-plate drivers, the trucks, the other cabs, the motorcycles, the BICYCLES.. everyone. and straight in front of him was a wide open road without a car in sight.. almost like those street racing games on ps2.. except this uncle was NOT RACING, LOR.

I gently reminded him of my urgency.. and he still tells me that he can get there in time "dun worrieee..."

Then he asked me why i was in such a hurry.. where was i going.. what my "hobby hobby" was.. asssuming that i liked to go dancing and drinking and smoking and ktving (his fave surcharge customers i assume).. i politely said no.

And then it got to boyfriend topic.. and after a few probes i told him the truth that i was infact single.. and (in a tone and manner similar to the way hannah's little bro said it) he goes "cannot beeeeee.. you surely have one.." and refusing to just give in to him, i just said no. again. he tried his hand at justifying why im single and i accepted the one abt boyfriends being too troublesome to handle should i decide to work overseas. it was probably a genuine reason too. (oh and by now he already knew that i was more an ABC than a typical hongkie)

But he was relentless.. "but what IF.. RU GUO RU GUO.. you got boyfriend.. how would he be like?"

BY THE WAY, half of this convo was in chinese.. so one of the reasons why i continued talking to him was cuz it felt good to practice my oral mandarin in a social setting.

So i told myself: describe your ideal boyfriend in chinese.

I told him:
He cant be smelly.
He cant do bad things.

And as expected he had his 2 cents (by now it was more like 50 cents).. almost like he wanted to sell his son or something.. He told me i probably wouldnt like a guy who didnt do ANY bad things.. that i must give leeway to 'a little' bad things.. "otherwise how to 'steal' your heart!" and he laughs at his own joke. Ok sure, whatever, i just wanted to get to the concert. There's only one major show that i remember watching at the UCC prior to this one. And i was already late that time missing a very important scene. I really didnt want this unbecoming habit to become my forte.

Jumped outta the cab and ran into the UCC looking for the one whos ticket im holding on to...

Everyone, say hi to Hanwei:
(more affectionately referred to as 'weewee' hereafter)

See what a mismatch we are??
Theres definitely something missing when the tallest and the shortest of our penn state sextet is without the rest (that the right term for a party of 6?) Sadly, fai and sharon couldn't make it, norman was part of the camera crew, and hannah was our star of the night! (well she made us buy tickets from her, heh)
And the show was great! Well halfway through at least..
we came out for intermission, got a mocha gelato at the dome.. couldnt finish it in time and the usher closed the doors without warning us, and we couldnt reenter until later! Wee and i were really mad cuz the same girl that told us to finish our drinks first was the same one who closed the doors and she was standing right next to us the whole time watching us drink and she didnt even prompt us abt closing the doors. And so we missed the first song of the second half.. and the big fat deal abt it was that it was shane's song! Well shane and david's, but i didnt know david was doing it too. And remember how i said i was late for a show before at the UCC and had to miss a scene? Well it was shane's song that time too. ;P

When we finally went in.. we realised that we had missed abt 2 songs (the usher promised we'd only miss one.. i knew that wait outside was as long as i imagined..) But the good news was that it was hannah singing.. and she sounded great! im mean all the singers sounded great.. but theres something abt hannahs voice that makes it very hannah.. and i like it *grin* not to mention that she looked fantastic too, with the flower in her hair :]

Anyways.. it also halfway into the show that i realised that we were sitting next to my jc classmate the whole time. i should've guessed.. we both bought tickets from hannah. heh.
Everyone, say hello to jovian:
Since day one, there was something abt jovian that reminded me of brad pitt (and im not the only crazy one to think so, cuz hannah does too) Jovian is eccentric and unconventional. so i made it a point not to smile for this pic despite the joyous occasion, simply cuz smiling for a photo is too 'ordinary'...
I wasn't allowed to take any photos inside the concert hall iself, so make do with these post performance pics? And i dont really have a story for each one these.. but if i HAD to justify then..
this one because norman looks funny...

this one because it's the only one i have of hannah before my batt died :(
(half of that is hannah's family by the way)

this one because keith wasn't around..
(so i could pretend to be in Reverie, heh)

and this one because..

.. i bought the shirt.
